Mo-Kan STMA Fall Event
Location: Kansas City Urban Youth Academy at Parade Park (Truman Road and The Paseo)
Registration: 7:30 am - 8:15am with event starting at 8:30am
Event details: We will start with a walking tour and discussion about the Academy program. Dr. Brad Fresenburg will discuss fall practices on cool season, warm season, and synthetic surfaces. Evan Fowler the Manager of Kansas City Royal Grounds will discuss lip maintenance, infield products, and field renovations occurring at the stadium.
The Academy consists of consists of an indoor training facility and is coupled with four state-of-the art diamonds. KCMO through its board of parks and recreation commissioners entered into a cooperative agreement with the not-for-profit corporation, Kansas City Urban Youth Academy (KCUYA). It is the seventh Academy in the United States and will partner with the Boys & Girls Club of greater Kansas City to help support the local Reviving Baseball in the Inner Cities (RBI) programs. Age ranges from 6-18 will be provided free, year-round baseball/softball instruction and play. The Academy's aim also is to provide youth with access to tutoring programs, college prep classes, college and career fairs, financial literacy and internship programs, courses teaching math through the use of baseball statistics and MLB industry alternative career workshops. Youth will also have a opportunities to be involved in drug resistance and gang preventions programs and healthy lifestyle classes.
